Major Kudos

Dear Gary: As a long-time subscriber to Widescreen Review, I have become accustomed to the high-quality articles and in-depth explorations of home theatre issues in your magazine. However, with the recent D-Theater Movie Festival open house sessions, you and your able WSR crew topped your own standards! The main objective of the sessions—to give home theatre enthusiasts an in-depth taste of the superior quality of the D-Theater format—were fulfilled with great gusto: Not only was I able to get first-hand experience in this, but in addition, I enjoyed enormously the comparison between the various formats and the various projection methods. In particular, it was greatly educational to see first-hand the qualitative differences between CRT and DLP, etc. projectors. To be able to witness A/B tests among the competing formats and projectors was quite a treat! Heretofore, I have seen these tests in poorly set-up rooms at shows, or in showrooms from dealers that almost always have an ax to grind. Kudos, and kudos again, for a very enjoyable and educational time! I look forward to any future sessions you may have the stamina to present in the future.

Editor-In-Chief Gary Reber Comments:

It is most gratifying to know that you were able to experience home theatre in the form that we have always advocated in the pages of Widescreen Review. As a technology magazine with an educational purpose, we intend to produce other festivals and events that we think will appeal to our readers. Currently in the planning stages are a multichannel SACD Surround Music Festival and a DVD-Audio Surround Music Festival. Announcements of upcoming weekend dates will appear in WSR and on our www.WidescreenReview.com and www.SurroundMusic.net Web sites.
