Dear Gary:
I have always enjoyed your publication, and I have been a subscriber on the site for several years. I would like to ask why it seems to take so long to get reviews posted. I know there is a huge volume of DVDs and more coming every day. I use your reviews as purchase guidelines, and they are helpful. There are many older movies on your site that have never been reviewed. Are they ever going to be? Can you tell me what Widescreen Review plans are to increase the review catalog?

DVD Review Editor Stacey Pendry Comments:
Many thanks for your e-mail and for your support of Widescreen Review over the years.
We review the DVD titles for each issue just as soon as the studios send us the products. As you may know, piracy is a huge problem for the movie industry, and as a matter of course, to stem the tide of illegally traded DVDs, the studios have adopted a strategy of sending titles out one to two weeks prior to their street date, or less, when in years past they would send titles at least a month before street date. With this in mind, and the fact that it takes around 30 days to publish our magazine, most titles we cover will have already been made available from retailers.
We do respect the fact that you use our publication to make DVD purchasing decisions, and I am sorry that you now have to wait a few weeks after the product is on the shelves of your local retailers before you can read our reviews. Unless the powers-that-be at the different movie studios decide to take another route to stop illegal DVD trading, we can’t publish reviews for titles that we don’t yet have.
We receive so many titles each month at Widescreen Review that we are not able to provide coverage for every DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray Disc that is sent to us. When time permits, we do enter the basic information of the discs we do not plan to cover into our database. Unfortunately, some titles will never be fully reviewed due to time and resource constraints.
