HDMI

Dear Gary:

I’ve been reading your series on HDMI 1.3 cables, and after reading the first eight I realized that they started to sound like the politicians running for the New Hampshire primary. “Mine is the best HDMI cable (implying that everyone else is second best).” Perhaps Widescreen Review could do a side-by-side comparison of those participating in the series. It might help clear up my confusion as to what would work for me if I upgrade.

Also, I applaud your coverage of the cutting-edge technologies that will make home theatre/cinema the best that it can be. However, it will be some time (if ever) that this will trickle down to a price point where the lower middle-class (myself included) can afford it. I have no discretionary income to upgrade to the products WSR reviews.

In regard to your emphasis on the highest audio and video performance standards, I really do need that, as I have glaucoma, resulting in blotchiness in one eye and slight double vision in the other. I also have major hearing loss in both ears. I don’t plan on buying any high-definition discs, as I’ve spent too much money replacing my video collection to the detriment of my retirement fund.

I apologize for the length of this letter, but I thought I’d give you a view from the bottom looking up.

Richard Desgrange, Melbourne, Florida
