DVD-Audio — Will It Be Worth It?

Dear Gary: First off I wanna say I subscribe to and love your magazine, although I think at times it can be a little over technical & analytical for the average person. But I just want to express my opinion on the coming of DVD-Audio. First off, in the last year, I spent close to $10,000 putting together my current home theatre system (61-inch TV, full Dolby® Digital-DTS® Digital Surround, CD recorder..etc). It sounds and looks great!! The DTS music discs I have also sound great!! (Vince Gill, Alan Parsons) So I have some idea of what DVD-Audio will sound like. But if the powers that be think myself and a lot of other people are gonna run out and buy another DVD player, not to mention processor? or receiver? (do I need those too??), they are in for a rude awakening. If I can’t play whatever they put out in my current system, forget about it! All DVD-Video players being made now have DTS and Dolby Digital. I may be asking a stupid question... but why can’t those too be considered DVD-Audio?? I can’t imagine anything sounding better than what I already have. I realize that WSR is mainly a VIDEO magazine, but the lines of Audio-Video have become blurred. I’m sure a few people might agree.
