Dear Gary:Mr [Richard] Hardesty’s comments on the California Audio Labs multichannel amplifier in Issue 38 have me a little confused. He compared the CAL CL 2500 MCA to the Proceed HAP 3, which I happen to own, and stated, “The Excellent HPA 3 is the most powerful multichannel amplifier that I’ve heard previously, but the CAL makes it seem like a light weight by comparison.” The Proceed HPA 3 is a 250 watts-per-channel amplifier while the CAL is a 500 watts-per-channel amplifier. Please enlighten me, because if this is the case, I could save a lot of money buying a 100 watts-per-channel amplifier and getting it to sound like a 500 watts-per-channel amplifier.Thank you for doing good work in the home theatre arena.

Audio Equipment Review Editor Richard Hardesty Comments:
I don't understand this question. The CAL is twice as powerful as the Proceed and sounds twice as powerful.
