    Story Synopsis:
    An American Spaceship has traveled 20 Million Miles To Earth and crashes just off the coast of Sicily. The rescue party discovers that Colonel Calder (Hopper) appears to be the only survivor. But there is a stowaway looming on the crashed rocket in the form of a big lump of goo, which quickly evolves into a massive reptilian creature. It isn

    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a classic black-and-white picture, with a gray scale that is nicely balanced with generally deep blacks and bright whites. Images exhibit satisfying sharpness and detail. Expectedly, the source element is revealing of film grain, flecks of dirt, and artifacts; and the appearance of these artifacts is amplified for the visual effects shots. Unfortunately, edge enhancement creates bothersome white halos around images, and some pixelization is noticed. (Suzanne Hodges) Also includes a modified 1.33:1 version (not reviewed).

    I read WSR for the articles—honest. Terry Paullin's industry insight is refreshing and lively. The lack of comparisons of which home theatre-in-a-box is best or which sub $200 DVD player is best leaves more room for in-depth product and movie reviews. Most importantly, though, I read WSR for the caricature of Gary Reber morphed on to the movie featured on the cover in the Editor's Couch page. Pierce Brosnan had better watch out!
