    Story Synopsis:
    After murdering his brother in a fit of rage, violent soldier-for-hire and ex-slaver Rodrigo Mendoza (De Niro) seeks penance for his sins by becoming a missionary and devotes himself to serving the South American rainforest Indians he once enslaved. But Rodrigo may have to pick up his sword again when armies from Spain and Portugal begin to threaten the lifestyle and safety of the natives. (Suzanne Hodges)
