"The Ring" of the telephone is their first warning
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD has a cold, desaturated appearance that visually enhances the chilling storytelling, with lots of blue and gray overtones. Viewing in a completely blackened room is recommended, particularly for the darker scenes, as visual information quickly drops off to undefined blacks. The stylized picture has a gritty texture provided by inherent film grain. Edge enhancement is not much of a problem with this title, but finer details occasionally break up from minor pixelization. Kind of like college, where the things you learned in the first two years are engrained because you used the principles over and over again in your last two years
