    Story Synopsis:
    Ray Elwood (Phoenix) is an American soldier based in Germany during the final days of the Cold War. Crooked to the core, Elwood has his hands in anything illegal, from selling drugs to stealing Army supplies. Buffalo Soldiers is based on the book by Robert O

    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture has a stylized, cold look for the setting of this wartime dark comedy. Lots of green hues flood the color palette, but flesthones remain generally natural. Images are quite sharp and detailed, though sometimes appearing soft or slightly smeared. The picture is sometimes harshly contrasted, but shadow delineation is well balanced. Edge enhancement is a frequent problem with this title, but pixelization is limited. (Suzanne Hodges)

    I read WSR for the articles—honest. Terry Paullin's industry insight is refreshing and lively. The lack of comparisons of which home theatre-in-a-box is best or which sub $200 DVD player is best leaves more room for in-depth product and movie reviews. Most importantly, though, I read WSR for the caricature of Gary Reber morphed on to the movie featured on the cover in the Editor's Couch page. Pierce Brosnan had better watch out!
