Special Features
Disc One of this two-disc set includes an optional historical reference subtitle track and an Inside Look at the upcoming film "Tristan & Isolde". There are also up-front ads. Disc Two includes an Interactive Production Grid that allows you to control your behind-the-scenes experience (if you have a lot of time, it basically takes a 73-minute making-of documentary and breaks it up into chapters). The grid allows you choose between Directing, Crew, and Cast; and Pre-Production, Production, and Post Production stages of filmmaking. Next up are two A&E specials: the 44-minute History Vs. Hollywood and the 44-minute Movie Reel. Four brief Internet Featurettes discuss such topics as how Ridley Scott created the world of Kingdom Of Heaven, production design, costume design, and star Orlando Bloom; which, when played as one consecutive documentary, runs about nine minutes in length. Lastly, the theatrical trailer is included.

  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
From Ridley Scott, the director of Gladiator and Black Hawk Down, comes a new modern epic. Kingdom Of Heaven takes place in medieval Jerusalem, where Balian (Bloom), a young Frenchman, finds honor and redemption on a valiant quest. Against staggering odds, Balian battles overwhelming forces to save his people and fulfill his destiny as a true knight during the crusades. (Suzanne Hodges)

DVD Picture:
The dark and desaturated picture is very nicely rendered on this anamoprhically enhanced 2.32:1 DVD. The color scheme has a cold appearance that is complementary to the period and setting of the story. Fleshtones are nicely rendered and blacks are deep and solid throughout. The picture is often quite clean, with few distractions in the way of pixel breakup. Edge halos are noticed in some of the higher contrast scenes. (Suzanne Hodges)

Soundtrack:
Combining well-recorded dialogue, good spatial integration, and well placed imaging around the entire room, the Dolby
