DVD Picture:
As with the previous seasons of Alias, these anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1-framed episodes exhibit the excellent image quality of this series that was broadcast in high-definition. Colors are rich and well balanced, with accurate fleshtones, bright hues, and deep blacks. Images are often sharp and detailed, sometimes with exemplary textures and fine definition. Other scenes can exhibit a slightly soft focus or can look a bit pasty. The picture can, thematically, have a dark character, but contrast and shadow delineation are well balanced. There are few signs of smearing and rare instances of pixelization. However, some edge enhancement is apparent, which can be a bit of a distraction for picky viewers, but overall the series offers very pleasing image quality. (Suzanne Hodges)
