Subscribe Free"The Squid And The Whale" gives a whole new meaning to the words "disfunctional family." When authors Bernard (Daniels) and Joan (Linney) Berkman decide to get a divorce, it's their young sons Walt (Eisenberg) and Frank (Kline) who pay the price. Frank spends his time drinking and masturbating and decides he'd rather be with mom. But Walt picks his dad as his parent of choice and goes to live with him in a house in a new neighborhood. This story, based on writer/director Noah Baumbach's own childhood experiences, explores the pains of growing up with artistic, creative, and very self-centered parents. (Tricia Spears)
