Story Synopsis:
Based on a true incident from 1972 and a magazine article by P.F. Kluge and Thomas Moore, Dog Day Afternoon swarms with energy, excitement, and drama. While this new anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture is a definite improvement over the previous DVD, the picture still looks dated. Color saturation is inconsistent, with fleshtones at times appearing normal and other times ruddy. The picture is generally sharp and detailed, with improved contrast and shadow delineation. Minor flecks of dirt and grain are inherent in the source element. Pixelization and motion artifacts are noticed. (Suzanne Hodges)
