  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The most famous and favorite canine of all time, "Lassie," returns to the screen in Director Charles Sturridge's version of the classic tale. After a Duke (O'Toole) purchases the faithful collie for his young granddaughter Cilla (Odgers), the dog misses her master Joe (Mason) as much as the boy misses the dog. After Lassie escapes time and time again, the Duke moves her from England to Scotland, but Joe knows that nothing will keep Lassie from the family she loves and that Lassie will always come home. Based on the novel "Lassie Come Home" by Eric Knight. (Tricia Spears)

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.38:1 DVD exhibits a generally pleasing appearance, with well-resolved details and naturally saturated colors, but fleshtones are slightly too pale. Edge enhancement can be distracting in long shots, muddling the detail in the image. (Danny Richelieu)
