Story Synopsis:
Sheba Hart (Blanchett), the new art teacher who is a little more than wet-behind-the-ears, is grateful when Barbara Covett (Dench), head of the History Department, takes her under her authoritative, and often harsh, wing. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.82:1 DVD shows well-captured, and delivered, fine details. The fibers in clothing and the furrows on faces are easily discernable. Still, there are times when the image can look too soft. Black levels can be deep at times, but these scenes can look too overly contrasted. In day scenes, whites can look too bright, although not to the level of blooming, and blacks can look too gray. Colors are slightly oversaturated, and in night scenes, fleshtones can have an orange hue. Edge enhancement is also noticeable, although it is relatively minor. (Danny Richelieu)
