Poor Penelope Wilhern (Ricci) suffers from a curse that was placed upon her blue-blooded family in the 19th century by a witch whose daughter was scorned by one of Penelope's ancestors. Born with a pig snout, Penelope is hidden from society for decades by her overbearing mother (O'Hara) in hopes she can find "one of their own kind to accept Penelope, just as she is" as the curse dictates to remove the spell. A well-known, highly successful matchmaker is called upon to line up potential aristocratic suitors that will love the disfigured girl for the person she is on the inside
