  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Billy Fisher (Courtenay) spends his days in a constant series of daydreams weaving one fabricated story after another, thus earning him the nickname Billy Liar. Many of his visions involve the conquest of fabricated women...but one very real woman, Liz (Christie) may just be the thing Billy needs to bring him back to earth. Based on the novel and play by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall. (Tricia Littrell)

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits black-and-white images that are rendered in a well balanced gray scale. Images are slightly soft, but detail and definition can be nicely depicted. Scratches, dirt, and grain inherent in the source element are noticed. While edge enhancement can be a problem, there is also a distracting

Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 1.0 soundtrack has the usual inherently distorted and dated fidelity, but does seem nicely restored with a welcome lack of background noise.
