    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced black-and-white 2.35:1 DVD picture exhibits a generally good gray scale, with bright whites and generally deep blacks. Contrast is a bit low, but detail and sharpness are satisfactory. Viewing in a completely blackened room is recommended, especially due to the limited delineation in the darker scenes. The source element is revealing of dirt and artifacts, as well as some film grain. Edge enhancement is occasionally obtrusive, and there are signs of pixelization at times. (Suzanne Hodges)
