DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture exhibits image quality that is quite satisfying. (Since this was a Large-Format IMAX-type production, the widescreen image has been achieved through some reframing. The results are satisfying.) Colors are vibrant and well balanced. Images are sharp and nicely detailed, with excellent contrast. There are occasional scenes in which some pixelization is noticed, but overall the picture is solid and natural. Viewers with larger home theatre displays should find the cinematography exhilarating and, at times, vertigo-inducing. (Suzanne Hodges) The DVD also includes a 1.33:1 version (not reviewed).

Soundtrack:
The 5.1-channel soundtracks for this DVD are engaging and enlightening with aggressive spatial utilization. The music should be especially pleasing to experience, despite it seeming to be a little prominent in the surrounds. The dialogue has a natural-sounding presence, particularly in regards to spatial integration. The sound design for effects is remarkable, delivering nicely rendered sonic images, sometimes with prominence in the low-end (along with aggressive .1 LFE engagement) and dynamic range. The DTS
