Story Synopsis:
Cecilia (Farrow) is a struggling waitress and lonesome dreamer who loves to lose herself in movies. She wants to leave her husband, but has nowhere else to go, so her only escape is in the local theater. Spellbound by her new favorite, The Purple Rose Of Cairo, she is beside herself when the charming silver screen star, Tom Baxter (Daniels), literally steps out of the movie and into her life. When she meets the actor (Daniels) who plays Tom, she finds herself being romanced by both celebrity and fictional character, Cecilia must carefully walk the line between fantasy and reality. A totally enchanting movie. (Suzanne Hodges)

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture is presented in both color and black-and-white. The black and white scenes represent the movie within the movie, and the grayscale is nicely rendered.
