Story Synopsis:
Label executives and soundtrack producers so loved the music of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, starring an extraordinary ensemble cast (including George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman and Holly Hunter) that they brought it to life as a benefit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame on May 24, 2000. Filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen loved it so much that they hired famed documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker to record the show for posterity. The result is Down From The Mountain.
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD documentary exhibits varying qualities related to the different film formats. While the movie is mostly in color, there are black-and-white scenes, and as well, there is some stock footage. Images are generally sharp, but fine detail is limited. Colors are rich and vibrant, at times bordering oversaturation. Aliasing problems, shimmering details, and edge enhancement are all detected. (Suzanne Hodges)
