(Gary Reber)

Special features include three bonus songs: "Just Friends," "Beatrice," and "Passeone Blues."

The 1080p AVC 1.78:1 picture quality is absolutely gorgeous, with no apparent noise or other artifacts. The pristine transfer exhibits perfectly natural colors, with deep blacks and superb shadow delineation. Colors are vibrant, with perfectly rendered fleshtones. Resolution is outstanding, with amazing detail. The big band setting is beautiful. This is a true reference quality picture to show off your home theatre, and this is about as good as it gets in high-definition! (Gary Reber)

The linear PCM (LPCM) stereo soundtrack is wonderful, as are the Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ soundtrack encodings. The 18-piece jazz orchestra recording is fabulous, with rich tones and biting brass sounds. Ray Charles sounds terrific, as do the five Rayettes. The soundstage is wide and deep, with excellent phantom imaging. The sound is virtually distortion free, with superb clarity and dynamics. This is a thrilling live concert recording of the highest calibre. Unfortunately, the preferred recording is limited to stereo. Both the DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital 5.1-channel versions are electronically derived and very room reverberant. This sounds unnatural and artifical. Stick with the LPCM version. What a memorable Ray Charles experience! (Gary Reber)
