Based on the incredible true story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Cruise) and his ingenious assassination plot targeting Adolph Hitler (David Bamber), this engrossing thriller reenacts the daring operation to eliminate one of the most evil tyrants the world has ever know. Co-starring Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Terence Stamp, and Eddie Izzard, Valkyrie delivers pulse-pounding excitement from start to finish. (Tricia Spears)

The 1080p AVC picture quality is first rate. Colors are nicely saturated, with warm hues that are beautifully rendered. Shadow delineation is excellent and reveals subtle textural detail deep into scenes. Fleshtones are perfectly natural and accurate. Contrast is impressive, with deep, solid blacks and highlights that are visually dramatic. The imagery is nicely dimensional, with excellent depth of field. Resolution is impressive as well. Facial features, hair, clothing, and other textures are nicely resolved. This is an extremely natural-looking picture that perfectly enhances the sense of period and historic realism. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is fabulous. Low-level atmospheric effects and Foley are outstanding. Dynamic impact is impressive, exhibiting extremely soft sounds to powerful deep bass below 25 Hz in the .1 LFE channel. Dialogue integration is nicely spatial and connects well with the scenes. The orchestral music score is terrific and very well recorded, with a wide and deep soundstage and a subtle but effective presence in the surrounds. The music is emotionally haunting but beautiful in instrumental timbre and dynamic impact. At times the surrounds are energized and fully engaging holosonically®, for an enveloping directionalized soundfield experience with exciting fly-bys and dynamic gunfire. This is an impressively crafted soundtrack that is reference quality. (Gary Reber)
