Based on the character owned and created by Toho Co., Ltd., Godzilla is a large and loud adventure that features one of the most famous movie monsters in film history, proving one point-size does matter. The gigantic lizard is causing complete chaos in New York City, and everyone must join forces to unravel the mystery behind the incredible destructive and disappearing creature before it is too late. (Laurie Sevano)

Special features include The Ultimate Godzilla Multi-Player Trivia Game, a sneak peek at the movie 2012 (HD 02:32), commentary with Visual Effects Supervisor Volker Engel and Associate Visual Effects Supervisor Karen Goulekas, the featurettes Behind The Scenes Of Godzilla With Charles Caiman (SD 06:58) and All Time Best Of Godzilla Fight Scenes (SD 10:14), the "Heroes" music video by The Wallflowers, previews, and up-front ads.

The 2.40:1 1080p AVC picture surpasses the quality of the previously released anamorphic widescreen DVD reviewed in Issue 30. The Blu-ray Disc™ delivers dramatically improved sharpness and detail. Resolution reveals fine facial features and object textures. Color fidelity is excellent, displaying accurate fleshtones, vivid colors, and deep, solid blacks. Colors are nicely saturated and exhibit a superbly natural rendering. Shadow delineation is excellent. The imagery is nicely dimensional as well. This is overall a dark film that should be viewed in a darkened room, preferably a black room, to optimize blacks and shadow depth. Stylized throughout, the picture is sure to challenge the best display systems. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is impressively dynamic, and often the SPL is system threatening. The sound is loud, with a theme park attitude that produces a sonically exciting soundfield experience. The music score is wide and deep and expansive. The soundfield is aggressively enveloping with dimensionally discrete directionality. There is always a surround presence that is effectively enveloping, with excellent side-wall imaging. Bass extension is deep and powerful to below 25 Hz, especially in the .1 LFE channel. Dialogue sounds generally natural, though, dialogue has been extensively ADR produced, with generally good spatial integration. This is an extremely active soundtrack, with exciting panning and directionalized sound effects. Caution is advised, as this is an extremely loud and powerful soundtrack that is system threatening.
