"Youth In Revolt" is the story of Nick Twisp (Cera)—a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life, like Sinatra and Fellini—who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Doubleday( while on a family vacation. But family, geography, and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheeni's encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois. With his ascot, his mustache, and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences. Based on the novel "Youth In Revolt: The Journals Of Nick Twisp" by C.D. Payne. (Gary Reber)

The 1080p AVC picture is pleasant, with a warm color palette, for a generally natural look. Fleshtones are pale in hue, though, which projects a lifeless quality. Contrast is generally balanced, with solid blacks and revealing shadows. Resolution is good, especially during close-ups of facial features and object textures. The imagery is clear and sharp, with decent dimension. The wonderful animation sequences are colorful and nicely textured. Overall, this is a pleasant picture experience. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is conventional throughout, with production and ADR dialogue that is wanting in spatial integration. The music track provides a spacious soundfield experience, with an aggressive enveloping surround presence. Other than a few instances, which excite the soundfield, this is a dialogue-driven soundtrack that is unremarkable but works within the context of the storytelling. (Gary Reber)
