After being killed in an explosion, Matt (Penikett) finds himself reawakened on an unusual planet where people from all eras of history have been simultaneously resurrected under the watchful eye of a mysterious alien force. With a skilled 13th century female warrior and charismatic riverboat captain Mark Twain by his side, Matt sets off across the dangerous, unknown terrain determined to find his lost fiancée. The original Syfy original movie is based on the acclaimed "Riverworld" novels. (Gary Reber)

Special features include a behind-the-scenes featurette with Actor Alan Cumming (HD 02:45) and the trailer.

The 1080p VC-1 picture is pleasing with varied imagery and contrasts. An original Syfy production, the production quality is good, with natural color and warm and rich hues. Fleshtones are perfectly natural throughout. Resolution is generally good, with excellent detail during closeups that reveal fine facial features and object textures. Blacks are deep and solid, and shadow delineation is generally good. Overall, this is a nicely produced visual experience that will please fans. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic, and at times expansive, with good atmospheric sound effects that are spread wide and deep within the soundfield. Bass extension is often energized to below 25 Hz in the .1 LFE channel, for dramatic impact. Surround envelopment is aggressive and directionalized. The music score is electronic flavored but effective and aggressively present in the surrounds. Dialogue falls short in the spatial integration department, with a disconnect with the scenes. Overall, this is a conventional soundtrack with various good qualities but not remarkable. (Gary Reber)
