"Goodbye Christopher Robin" is a poignant story about fame and family, which takes place at the end of the First World War. Beloved children's author A.A. Milne (Gleeson) creates the magical world of Winnie-the-Pooh––which brings him immediate acclaim. But the books' international success comes at a cost to the author, his young son Christopher Robin (Tilston), and his wife Daphne (Robbie). (Gary Reber)

The 1.85:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa Mini camera system and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. This picture is absolutely gorgeous due to a terrific production design and brilliant cinematography by Ben Smithard, BSC. The lighting design is radiant, with superb contrast exhibiting deep blacks and revealing shadow delineation. Colors are perfectly natural, with warm and rich hues that at times gloriously pop with strong saturation. The outdoor forest scenes are nicely saturated with greenery, and oh, the snow falling and coverage. Resolution is impressively refined with fine detail exhibited throughout. Facial features, skin pores, hair, clothing, and both elegant interiors and outdoor settings are finely resolved. The imagery is absolutely engaging with a wonderful presence. The war flashbacks deliver a darker look but are dramatic. This is a fantastic visual experience that is reference quality. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is overall light and frontal focused, except in the battle flashbacks, which are intense with aggressive surround energy and directional sound effects. Deep bass during these segments is intense, extending to sub-25 Hz frequencies, igniting the .1 LFE channel. Carter Burwell's orchestral score extends to the surrounds, for good envelopment from a wide and deep soundstage. Atmospherics are quite realistic, which, in particular, enhances the sonic character of the countryside. The main focus is dialogue, which is perfectly intelligible in a British delivery, with good spatial integration. This is a wonderful soundtrack that is delivered with excellent fidelity and clarity and effectively supportive of the storytelling. (Gary Reber)
