"Irresistible" follows what happens when a small town becomes the main attraction for two rival political pundits. Top Democratic consultant Gary Zimmer (Carell) sees an opportunity to win back voters in America's heartland when a video of a passionate farmer and retired Marine colonel (Cooper)) goes viral. After a long hard day's work as a farmhand, Gary persuades the farmer to run for mayor. However, when the Republican National Committee counters him by sending in his brilliant nemesis, Faith Brewster (Byrne), Gary is more than primed to up his game, turning this local race into a hilarious game of tug of war. (Gary Reber)

Special features include 15 deleted and extended scenes (HD 20:34), a gag reel (HD 05:49), the featurettes "Campaign Comedy: The Cast (HD 03:44), "Taking The Lead: Jon Stewart" (HD 03:06) and "An Irresistible Story" (HD 04:12) and a Movies Anywhere digital code.

The 1.67:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Color fidelity is solid with rich and warm hues that are nicely saturated. Primaries are strong. Fleshtones are perfectly natural. Contrast is excellent with revealing blacks and shadows. Lighting is effective as a visual element. Resolution is excellent with sharp and finely detailed imagery. Facial characteristics are finely defined as well as clothing and object textures, such as campaign offices, town locals, and set designs. There are numerous scenes depicting fake newscasts and political ads and graphics, which are nicely detailed. The outdoor dance scene is quite vivid and sharp. Overall, this is a terrific picture experience. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused with essentially quiet dynamics. Dialogue clarity is excellent with good spatial integration. The music is nicely spread wide and deep within the soundstage with an effective rhythmic edge. Atmospherics are realistic in terms of interiors and locals. Foley sound effects are well crafted and realistic. While dynamic sound effects are minimum, in one political ad involving war and a machine gun the sound is realistic and powerful with deep sub-25 Hz bass that excites the soundfield. Bass also is active to enhance football sounds. This is a pleasing soundtrack and nicely complementary to the story. (Gary Reber)
