The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® using the Arri Alexa SXT camera system and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is excellent with a rich and warm color palette that appears natural throughout with exceptional color depth. Contrast is well balanced with superb shadow delineation and deep black levels, Luminance lighting effects appear realistic with effective spot lighting to create atmospheric effects. Resolution is revealing of fine detail and natural sharpness and clarity. Facial features are naturally captured as well as clothing and object textures. This is an engaging aesthetic visual experience with horrific outcomes. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack is
hauntingly and creatively spooky with a terrific enveloping surround presence with dimensional energy. The scenes with pouring rain are totally realistic and enveloping. Sound effects are enhanced with strong bass support that sounds natural. Atmospherics are naturally presented and compliment the settings. Joseph Bishara's orchestral score delivers a wide and deep soundstage that extends to the surrounds. Fidelity is excellent throughout, Dialogue is intelligible with generally good spatial integration. This is a very respectable dynamic soundtrack that nicely sets a horrific mood throughout.
