In "Sing 2," the ever-optimistic Koala, Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) and hi cast have big dreams of staging their most dazzling show yet in the glittering entertainment capital of the world, Redshore City. There's just one hitch: They must persuade the world's most reclusive rock star, Clay Calloway (Bono), to join them. Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), Ash (Scarlett Johansson), Johnny (Taron Egerton) Meena (Tori Kelly) and Gunter (Nick Kroll) return with all new characters, spectacular hit songs and electrifying performances. (Gary Reber)

Special features include the mini-movies the mini movies "For Gunter's Eyes Only" (HD 03:44) and "Animal Attraction" (HD 04:12); outtakes (HD02:07); the featurettes "Meet The Animators" (HD 04:34), Super Sing-Alongs (HD 14:51), "How To Dance & More!" (HD 17:50), "The Voices Of Sing 2" (HD 11:26), "From The Drawing Room" (HD 37:05) and "How To Draw" (HD ) and a Movies Anywhere digital code.

The 1.85:1 1080p AVC 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was animated digitally and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Unlike the original "Sing," which was released on 3D Blu-ray Disc, "Sing 2" is a standard Blu-ray release. This is such a fantastic animation production! The color palette is exceptionally vivid, with strongly saturated hues that consistently pop. Colors are wildly varied and punchy with intensity. Hue shadings are remarkable. HDR contrast is excellent, with solid blacks and revealing shadows. Resolution is phenomenal with excellent character detail. Costumes and objects are impressively revealing of textures. Cityscapes, Redshore City, the Crystal Casino and Theatre interiors, and Clay Calloway's secluded retreat are incredibly defined. This is an spectacular presentation that will produce lots of laughs and enjoyment for the entire family with outrageously fun animal characters that light up the screen. This is one of the best animated pictures ever! (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is wonderfully musically dynamic, with great singing and instrumental performances performed by the fun animal animations. Atmospherics can be both nuanced and strong. Sound effects are incredibly lively and dynamic sounding. Foley sound effects enhance the sense of realism. Deep bass is strong but always natural sounding, with plenty of toe-tapping .1 LFE energy. Not only is the singing great, but the instrumental accompaniment is fantastic. Dialogue is consistently intelligible with a good sense of spatial integration for an ADR production. The music and sound effects are effective in extending to the four ear-level surrounds, for an aggressive directionalized holosonic® enveloping presence.

The Immersive Sound element is limited to an extension of the music to the height layer, which adds a fuller sense of soundfield expansion and immersion during the performances. Still far more could have been accomplished, yet the entire presentation is so soundfield enveloping that it feels as if there is more in the height layer.

The big finale musical numbers on the four planets of the "Out Of This World" production are very exciting and rousing and effectively serve as show stoppers. This is a very fun and musically satisfying holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack with effective soundfield dimensionality and superb fidelity. (Gary Reber)
