"Renfield" (Nicholas Hoult) is the tortured aide to history's most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Nicholas Cage). For centuries, Renfield has lavishly served Dracula by procuring his master's prey and doing his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, Renfield is ready to look for a new life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness, if only he can figure out how to end the toxic, co-dependent relationship. (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® using the Panavision Millennium DXL2 and Red V-Raptor camera systems and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture is bloodily stylized. While hues are rich and warm, their settings are aggressively colorized, such as the reds. While Dracula;s facial hue is pale, humans appear natural. Contrast is well balanced, with scenes often with dark overtones accentuated with colorful lighting accents. Black levels are deep and solid and shadows are well defined. The lighting design effectively enhances the production design. Sharpness and clarity are revealing of realistic detail, especially during closeups pf facial features. costumes and objects. This is an entertaining action character story with Dracula at the center of the blood fest. A fun trip throughout. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with action scenes aggressively punctuated with transient bass support. The orchestral score also provides dynamic enhancement during action sequences. Atmospherics are supportive and sound effects really energize the action. Surround energy is aggressive with split surrounds. Dialogue is generally well integrated. This is an exciting holosonic® soundtrack with pounding energized dynamics. (Gary Reber)
