In "Day Zero," after serving eight incident-free years in prison, a former elite soldier is released, finally free to reunite with his estranged wife and young daughter. However, he re-enters civilization only to discover the outside world has been completely overtaken by a dangerous virus with terrifying effects on the human body. Chased by hordes of the undead, he races through the dangerous urban landscape in a final desperate attempt to redeem himself and rescue his family. (Gary Reber)

Special features include the trailer and upfront previews.

The 2.39:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the RED WEAPON MONSTRO 8K camera system and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The setting is the interior of an apartment complex with a picture that generally appears natural looking. Of course the color palette offers up lots of dark red blood and the virtually constant zombie attack sequences. Flesh tones generally appear natural as well in the darkened interior. Contrast is limited with most scenes shadowy dark.. Resolution is generally good but a bit soft. This is an intensely bloody violent experience not for the weak. (Gary Reber)

The Filipino DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is supported with English subtitles. The soundtrack is extremely active with screams and yells from deranged non-humans. Punches and all manner of body batting sounds are prevalent. Gun fire also is extensive and powerful. Body breakage is intense. The music is quite active with a wide and deep soundstage. The surrounds are extremely aggressive and enveloping. This is a brutal holosonic® soundtrack experience of violence and killing. (Gary Reber)
