In "The Garfield Movie," Garfield (Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father –– scruffy street cat Vic (Samuel L. Jackson) –– Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist. (Gary Reber)

Special features include the featurettes "Indoor Cat: Outdoor Adventure" ( HD 03:25), "Cast Of Critters" (HD 04:08) and "How-To-Draw: Garfield, Odie, Vic, And More" (HD 18:15), Gag Reel (HD 02:34), Easter Eggs: Garnishes à la Garfield, deleted scene –– Animatic, featuring Hannah Waddingham (HD 02:41), animation reels, gallery and a Movies Anywhere digital copy.

The 1.85:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was animated digitally and sourced from a 4K Digital Intermediate. The movie was created for stereoscopic 3D conversion by DNEG, who also created the animation. The picture is wonderfully colorful with nicely presented hue saturation. Of course, Garfield is an orange tabby and his orange fur, as well as his dad's is a pleasant orange hue with black stripes. Other colors reflect generally natural imagery. Contrast is excellent with an overall bright imagery with deep blacks, animated shadow delineation and vibrant white levels. Dimensionality is good. Resolution is excellent with fine detail exhibited in Garfield and associated characters in terms of textural resolution. Animated emotional expressions are wonderful. The rest of the background scene imagery is flatly presented with coloring of the drawings. Overall, this is a fun and creative animated movie that delivers loads of Garfield entertainment to fans. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with a cartoonish orchestral and diverse music score that is quite active and rhythmic with a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Sound effects are diverse with sharp transients in the middle and .1 LFE bass frequencies that often whist by and are panned within the soundfield. Both atmospherics and sound effects are created from sound libraries but sound realistic. Dialogue is ADR produced entirely and intelligible throughout, and subtlety directionalized. This is a fun soundtrack with lots of music and deep bass sound effects, and an aggressively enveloping surround soundfield. (Gary Reber)
