Inspired by an actual legal case in Hong Kong, "The Prosecutor" follows the story of a man who falsely pleads guilty to drug trafficking after being framed. Despite the confession, the veteran policeman-turned-prosecutor (Donnie Yen) handling the case is convinced of the man’s innocence and pursues his own investigation, risking both his career and his life to bring the real perpetrator to justice. The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using Arri Alexa camera systems and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is good though with digital qualities. The settings are urban and a court room. The imagery is overall very bight. Color fidelity is good with naturally saturated hues, with an emphis on teals and purples, and primaries that pop. Flesh tones appear natural. HDR contrast is good. Blacks are realistic and deep. Shadow delineation is good, White levels are often exaggerated and seemingly unnaturally bright. The imagery is sharp and clear. Resolution is revealing of fine detail. Facial features are nicely defined with skin pores, lines and hair in focus. Clothing fabrics are discernible. Objects are well defined. This is a pleasing picture though seemingly over bright in numerous scenes. (Gary Reber)

The Cantonese Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding. Additionally, there is a DTS=HD Master Audio 5.1 English language version option. The action scenes deliver excellent bass enhancement during the intense fight scenes. At times the .1 LFE channel adds to the bass impact. Atmospherics are realistic. Foley sound effects are realistic. Sound effects are often exciting and bolstered with impactful bass transients, especially the fight scenes. The orchestral score is dynamic and occupies a wide and deep soundstage with an aggressive extension to the surrounds. Surround energy is aggressive overall with excellent directional sound effects.such as intense gunfire. The Cantonese dialogue is delivered with generally good spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of a a subtle extension of the orchestral score and a couple instances of gunfire and fireworks extension. This is overall a unrealized height ayer with wanting energy.

This is a holosonic® soundtrackj with numerous exciting segments that deliver excellent dynamics. (Gary Reber)
