In Marvel Studios’ "Captain America: Brave New World," Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) –– who now wields the shield of Captain America after events in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” –– meets with newly elected U.S. president Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) and soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, Sam must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Director Julius Onah and Director of Photography Kramer Morgenthau, three deleted scenes (HD 04:45), the featurettes "Assuming The Mantle" (HD 11:08) and "Old Scores, New Scars" (HD 09:46), gag reel (HD 02:12) and a Movies Anywhere digital copy.

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® using the Arri Alexa Mini LF IMAX camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. A 3D conversion was performed by SDFX Studios and Seecubic but no 3D Blu-ray was provided for review. This is a stylized picture with numerous diverse scenes. Picture quality is excellent with sharp and clear imagery throughout. Colors are nicely saturated with at times vivid primaries. Flesh tones are perfectly natural, HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels are deep and solid. Shadow delineation is revealing. White levels appear natural with segments in which illumination is exceptionally bright. Visual effects are exciting. Resolution is revealing of fine detail throughout. Facial features, especially in closeups, are finely detailed including skin pores, lines, hair and beards. Clothing fabrics reveal detail. Structures, sets and objects are realistic and detailed. This is a visually engaging picture that will please fans. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with lots of sound effects supported with deep bass and .1 LFE energy. Atmospherics and ambient environmental effects are nicely implemented across s the soundstage and into the sides and surrounds. Sound effects are diverse and often exciting, such as in the intense action fight scenes. Foley sound effects are in perfect sync with picture. The orchestral score occupies a wide and deep soundstage that extends to the surrounds. Surround activity is a near constant. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an extension of the music; atmospherics, such audience applause, din and some subtle outdoor environmental sounds; some subtle dialogue and fight grunts; sound effects, such a helicopter spinning blade and a few transient sonics during a battle in the skies. This is an unfulfilled action height layer missing so much obvious opportunities for enhancement of the sound field.

This is a robust and dynamic ear-level holosonic® soundtrack that delivers excitement with its intense violent sound effects. (Gary Reber)
