In "The Woman In The Yard," Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler) becomes crippled by grief after her husband dies in a car accident, leaving her to care for her two children alone in her rural farmhouse. Her sadness soon turns to fear when a spectral woman in black (Okpokwiasili) appears on her front lawn, warning her "today's the day." As the mysterious figure creeps closer and closer to the house, Ramona realizes she must protect her children from the evil woman who simply won't leave them alone. (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photograph digitally and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The setting is a fixer-up old farmhouse in the country with both exterior yard and interior imagery. Picture quality is excellent. The imagery is natural. Color fidelity is superb with hues that are perfectly realistic and warm. Hues are predominantly brownish toned. Flesh tones are perfectly natural. Contrast is excellent with realistic white light levels including a lighter's small flame, deep blacks and excellent shadow delineation. Resolution reveals fine detail in facial features, such as skin pores and hair, the house's exterior and interiors, and clothing fabrics. The imagery throughout is suspenseful and haunting resulting in a well-crafted horror movie. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with an effectively haunting sound design. Atmospherics sound realistic, such as clothing on the line flapping in the wind or the sounds of chickens in their coop. Sound effects are creepy with intense bursts of transient energy and the sounds of ruckus as the furnishings get violently tossed around. Foley sound effects are perfectly in sync with picture. The music is haunting with orchestral and synthesizer voicings. The music stretches wide and deep across the soundstage with an aggressive extension to the surrounds for strong envelopment. Surround energy is aggressive and fully enveloping. Deep bass is energized throughout for a solid foundation for the sound elements. Dialogue is well integrated spatially. This is a well-crafted holosonic® soundtrack with effective haunting sound elements. (Gary Reber.
