The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Ultra Panavision 70 using the Arri Alexa 35, Arri Alexa Mini LF and Red Komodo-X camera systems and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. A 3D conversion was performed by SDFX Studios and Seecubic but no 3D Blu-ray was provided for review. Picture quality is excellent, The production design is diverse, often with often vast intricate settings and incredible visual effects. in terms of saturation., coors at time pop. Flesh tones are perfectly natura with realistic skin tones. The wide color gamut reveals nuanced hues, HDR contrast is superb, Black levels are deep and solid. Shadow delineation is superb. White levels appear realistic. Resolution is revealing of fine detail throughout, Facial features and complexions are realistic. Facial features reveal detail in skin pores, lines, hair and beards. Structural and architectural features appear realistic. Object textures are finely detailed, This is a really superb looking picture with settings and action sequences that are a trademark of Marvel Studios' productions. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with a deep bass foundation and exciting action sequences ripe in sound effects with cutting transients. Atmospherics sound realistic, Sound effects are diverse and often powerful and often enhanced with deep .1 LFE bass extension to sub-25 Hz. The orchestral score occupies a wide and deep soundstage with an aggressive enveloping surround presence with the side and rear channels engaged in ambient environmental effects and orchestral scoring.. Dialogue is intelligible with satisfying spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element consists of an extension of the orchestral score and two minor low-level segment of atmospherics as well as extremely short segments of machine gun fire and collapsing building facades. Far more could have been achieved to enhance the height layer as the visual are ripe for such development.
This is a holosonc® spherical surround soundtrack that is dynamic and strong in bass foundation and attack with respect to sound effects. (Gary Reber)
