In "Shadow Force,", Kyrah (Kerry Washington) and Issac (Omar Sy) were once leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love, and in order to protect their son, they go underground. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family’s fight becomes all-out war. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Writer-Director Joe Carnahan and Editor Kevin Hale, The featurettes "Making Shadow Force — Ain't Nothing to F*** With" (HD 19:29), "International Waters: The Locations Behind Shadow Force" (HD 07:49) and "Isla Gunfight: Final Battle Breakdown" (HD 06:47), theatrical trailer and a digital copy.

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The production design is often in dark settings which dampens vibrancy. Still, picture quality is excellent. Color fidelity exhibits generally good saturation. Flesh tones appear accurate. HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels are deep .Shadows are deep, yet reveallng. White levels appear realistic, Resolution exhibits fine detail in facial features and skin tones, as well as object textures. This is a rather hauntingly dark visual experience with segments of natural daylight in the brightly lit outdoor scenes. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is very dynamic sounding with a solid deep bass presence during numerous scenes. Sound imaging is excellent with effective directionally . Atmospherics sound realistic. Sound effects are powerful, such as intense gunfire, car chases, explosions and other effects. The haunting orchestral/synthesizer score also is deep bass enhanced. The score occupies a wide and deep stereo soundstage that aggressively extends to envelop the surrounds. Surround energy is intense and directionalized. Dialogue is intelligible and at times shifts from English to French with English subtitles. Dialogue, in any event, sounds forward and is wanting in spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of frequent intense extension of the orchestral/synthesizer score to the height layer, a short burst of nuanced dialogue, din atmospherics and sound effects such as bursts of gunfire. This is a very effective aggressive height layer that does a good job at enhancing immersiveness.

This is a powerfully dynamic sounding and deep bass intrinsic holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that is sonically exciting. (Gary Reber)
