The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack delivers exciting dynamics and sound effects that are intense and enhanced ith powerful deep bass. The .1 LFE channel is extremely active with bass extension to sub-26 Hz, which supports the varied sound effects and explosions. Atmospherics sound realistic and dimensional. Sound effects are often extremely powerful during the grisly death sequences. Foley sound effects are realistic and in sync with picture. Tim Wynn's orchestral score also is quite active and extends from the wide and deep soundstage to the surrounds for envelopment. Surround envelopment is strong and at times directional. During Death moments, the sound field explodes with disturbing impact. Dialogue is intelligible but often ADR produced and wanting in spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised of a diverse and effective use of atmospherics, sound effects, music and dialogue in supportive segments to create an engaging height layer that does a superb job in creating spherical dimensionality. While there are some lapses that could have been treated, this is an effectively active height layer.
This is a well-crafted holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that delivers adrenaline rushes during the horrific violent and grisly "accidents" orchestrated by Death. This soundtrack really excites an emotional reaction! (Gary Reber)
