"The Unholy Trinity" is a tale of revenge, dark secrets, and buried treasures, the film is set against the turbulent backdrop of 1870s Montana. It picks up in the moments before the execution of Isaac Broadway (Tim Daly), as he gives his estranged son, Henry (Brandon Lessard), an impossible task: Murder the man who framed him for a crime he didn’t commit. Intent on fulfilling his promise, Henry travels to the remote town of Trinity, where an unexpected turn of events traps him in town and leaves him caught between Gabriel Dove (Pierce Brosnan), the town’s upstanding new sheriff, and a mysterious figure named St Christopher (Samuel L. Jackson). (Gary Reber)

The 2.00:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The setting is western territory and the town of Trinity. Picture quality is excellent with a color palette that exhibits earthy warm saturated colors. Hues reflect the browns and foliage shadings of the western landscape. The interior of the Sheriff Dove's house and the Trinity Saloon are bathed in brown and orange tones. Flesh tones appear natural. Contrast is excellent. Blacks are solid. Shadow delineation is revealing of deep shadings. White levels appear realistic. Textures in buildings and interiors are nicely defined. Resolution exhibits fine detail in facial features such as complexions, lines, beards and hair. Costumes are the typical western style and completely realistic. Town structural features also exhibit excellent realism. Objects are well defined. This is a very realistic western presentation that will thrill fans of the genre. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic with a fair amounT of powerful gunfire that rips through the sound field. Atmospherics are rather subtle but effective such a rugs and sheets blowing on a cloths line or a grandfather clock ticking. Foley sound effects are realistic. The sound of horse hoofs and galloping is very realistic. The orchestral score is forward sounding and dynamic. The music spans the soundstage and aggressively wraps to the surrounds for envelopment. Music dimensionality is superb. Dialogue is forward sounding and mostly ADR produced or body miked. Fidelity throughout is excellent. Overall, this is a satisfying holosonic® western-styled soundtrack that will please fans of the genre. (Gary Reber)
