The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on 35 mm Kodak Vision3 film in anamorphic Panavision® using the Arriflex 235 and Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2 camera systems and sourced from a 4K Digital Intermediate. Film grain is virtually nonexistent. The setting is ocean and lush jungle with locations in Malta. The imagery is absolutely super clear and sharp. The color palette is impressively saturated with lushly rich and warm hues that reflect the naturalness of the environments. Ocean waters appear perfectly realistic with the interior waterways reflective of the greenery exhibited in the jungle forestry. Colors that pop are the dad's bright reddish-orange shirt and objects in the village from which the mission is launched and on the boats, particularly the reddish bottom of the capsized sail boat and trim features on the motor boat, the orange raft and the red helicopter, Jungle emerald greens also are dense and pop. Flesh tones appear perfectly natural, especially those tanned by the bright daylight sun. The color palette exhibits a wide gamut of nuanced hues. HDR contrast is superb. Black levels are deep and solid with excellent definition. Shadow delineation is perfectly revealing with varying gradations of blacks and grays. White levels are brilliant and realistic, Daylight scenes are naturally illuminated, Visual effects are impressive throughout. Resolution is excellent with impressive detail exhibited throughout. Facial features are healthy and exhibit fine detail in skin pores, lines, wrinkles, stubble, dirt, sweat, beards and hair. Clothing exhibits stress and textural detail. Set designs are realistically detailed. Objects are nicely textured. Dinosaurs are realistically lifelike with excellent body textures including menacing scales, hides, horns, teeth, claws, and wings. This is an exceptionally well rafted and visually exciting picture with intense and frightening imagery throughout. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack delivers exceptional fidelity and dynamic impact. Atmospherics are realistic throughout. Sound effects are intense and frightening, and supported with excellent transients and deep bass extension, at times in the realm of sub-26 Hz frequencies in the .1 LFE channel. The varied and textured sounds of dinosaur footsteps, roars and snapping jaws are frightening and bass-transient toned. Foley sound effects enhance the intense realism. John Williams theme and Alexandre Desplat orchestral/choral score are powerful and occupy a very wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surround channels for complete soundstage envelopment. Sound field directionality is strong, with helicopters, boats, dinosaurs, and people panned and moving fluidly. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with effective spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an aggressive extension of the orchestral/choral score to the height channel, occasional jungle atmospherics, various sound effects such a a warning signal, helicopters, dinosaur crush of a vehicle, a building and helicopter, and a few more isolated instances. The music is the prominent element and is effective in enhancing the spatial dimensionality of the sound field.

This is an exceptionally well-craft holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that is dynamic sounding with excellent sound field imaging and fidelity. It delivers a Jurassic punch that will thrill the family. (Gary Reber)
