The 1.85:1 HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on 35 mm Eastman film using the Panavision Panaflex Gold II camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The film restoration has eliminated the appearance of any grain structure. The result a very sharp and clear picture. The setting is so perfect, a suburban American neighborhood track development with all the houses the same except for their colors, all of which exhibit saturated hues. The entire color palette exhibits strongly saturated hues that pop, in particular, reds, while maintaining natural flesh tones. The color palette itself conveys a hilarious response. The production design is fabulous. HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels appear deep and natural. Shadow delineation is revealing of depth and detail. The imagery is virtually always either bright daylight or brightly lit interiors, though the night scenes reveal superb shadow detail. Resolution is superb with detail evident everywhere. Backgrounds and foregrounds are in focus. Textural detail is excellent, Closeups reveal Edward's excellent makeup. Facial features reveal skin pores, lines and hair. Clothing exhibits fine texture. The houses and yards reveal textural detail. Objects exhibit fine texture detail. This is a super fun picture that looks terrific. (Gary Reber)

The repurposed Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1channel soundtrack is in character with the comedic nature of the storytelling. Atmospherics sound realistic in every scene and as a more nuanced element that includes the sound of insects at night. Sound effects also are realistic adding nuanced highlights within the sound field such as Edward's metal on metal hands in action. Foley sound effects are perfectly executed and convey realism. Danny Elfman's terrific orchestra/choral score is dynamic sounding with a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. The music is enhanced with a natural sounding bass foundation and transient emphasis. The .1 LFE is often engaged during the more robust moments. Surround envelopment is strong. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of both the orchestra and choral orchestrations which tend to favor the frontal height layer with more nuanced energy in the rear. The music sounds overall nuanced except for the more action segments. The music is virtually the sole height layer sound element, and provides decent enhancement of dimensionality but is sporadic in presence. There are a couple instances of sound effects, one takes place in a school classroom and the other is a police siren,

This is in so many ways a fun holosonic® soundtrack with a terrific music score that delivers an emotional punch. (Gary Reber)
