in "David Byrne's American Utopia," Spike Lee documents the former Talking Heads frontman's brilliant, timely 2019 Broadway show, filmed at New York City's Hudson Theatre and based on his recent album and tour of the same name. (Gary Reber)

Special features include a 16-panel foldout pamflet.

The 1.85:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Sony VENICE camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The concert stage production is extremely simple with a curtain backdrop and Byrne's on-stage 12-piece group of barefoot dancing singers and musicians dressed in suits that reflect greenish-gray or even orange hues, depending on the light, and set in various staging arrangements. Lighting focuses on the individual performers, at times with near blackish backdrops. Other staging is very stylish in terms of lighting. Not much to see here. Numerous peculiar musician staging, sans any stage dressing, and the audience are highlighted. Resolution is satisfying. The show's look likely will appeal to Byrne' fans. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack delivers good fidelity and clarity of vocals and instruments. The music extends to the surround channels for strong envelopment. Further, the audience applause is enveloped nicely throughout the sound field. Bass response is solid and deep with supportive .1 LFE boost. This is an excellent creative performance and should thrill fans of Byrne's music. (Gary Reber
