After being raised by a small-time Godfather (Hoskins) as a human weapon posing as a dog, Danny (Li) makes the acquaintance of Sam (Freeman), a blind piano tuner. The first person ever to show Danny a hint of kindness, the two strike up an unlikely friendship, and Danny becomes determined to put his past life behind him. But when things go wrong, Danny is faced with an unexpected choice and becoming Unleashed, takes on the ultimate fight for survival. (Tricia Spears)

Special features can be found on the standard-definition side of the disc and include a five-minute interview with Director Louis Leterrier, a 13-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, and two music videos: "Atta Boy" by Massive Attack and "Unleash Me" by THE RZA.

The 2.35:1 VC-1-encoded HD DVD picture has a stylized appearance awash in desaturated browns, yellows, and greens, nicely matching the dodgy underground that this story revolves around. While blacks are often milky in the darker scenes, shadow delineation is adequate enough to bring out some detail in the blacks. Detail is impressive for the most part, but the picture is not as impressive as some other HD DVD releases. (Danny Richelieu)

While the mix is exciting, and the Dolby® Digital Plus codec improves fidelity immensely, it also brings out some of the faults of the 5.1-channel encoding. Clipping distortion can be heard in some of the louder scenes, and dialogue can sound boxy at times. The mix is the same as the DVD and features superb surround envelopment and deep, tight bass.
