In Warrior, Tommy Conlon (Hardy), an ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, returns home and enlists his father (Nolte), a recovering alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. Tommy's estranged brother Brendan (Edgerton), a former MMA fighter unable to provide for his family as a public school teacher, also enters the competition. Set on a collision course with each other, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense winner-take-all battle of their lives. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with filmmakers and Actor Joel Edgerton; the documentary Redemption: Bringing Warrior To Life (HD 31:57), three featurettes: Brother vs. Brother: Anatomy Of A Fight (HD 11:55), Philosophy In Combat: Mixed Martial Arts Strategy (HD 21:07), and Simply Believe: A Tribute To Charles "Mask" Lewis, Jr. (HD 13:58); "The Diner" deleted scene with optional commentary (HD 03:02); a gag reel (HD 03:58); up-front previews; and a digital copy.

The 1080p AVC picture exhibits a gritty, rough appearance with an inconsistent quality. The overall imagery appears filtered with green and brown tints. The color palette is saturated with an unnatural range of hues and inconsistent fleshtones. Contrast, at times, appears blown-out and unbalanced with crushed blacks and poor shadow delineation. Resolution can, at times, be good, with revealing detail in facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture. Grain is also at times problematic, creating a heavy visual experience. Overall, this is an inconsistent visual experience with a gritty, rough character. (Gary Reber)

Of the optional sound mixes, the DTS-HD Master Audio™ 7.1-channel version is preferred for its enhanced enveloping and immersive surround experience. Surround energy is aggressive during the fight matches, with plenty of wraparound raucous crowd ambiance. The flashback to Iraq also is quite surround extensive. The added two channels provide enhanced spatial dimension, for a more engaging soundfield experience. The music score is limited with a mostly background presence. Bass extension in the .1 LFE channel is solid but limited. Dialogue exhibits a laid back, quiet quality that, at times, is difficult to understand. Overall, this is a decent soundtrack experience with segments that really provide an aggressive dimensional presence. (Gary Reber)
