In The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption, Mathayus (Webster) is in a dangerous battle to regain his glory and reclaim the empire. His journey is steeped in intrigue, sorcery, and romance. Since his triumphant rise to power in the original, Mathayus' Kingdom has fallen and he's lost his queen to plague. Now an assassin for hire, he must defend a Kingdom from an evil tyrant and his ghost warriors for the chance to regain the power and glory he once knew. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Director Roel Reiné, a deleted shots montage set to the film's epic score (HD 04:14), a making-of featurette (HD 13:18), the featurette Preparing For Battle (HD 05:54), six deleted and extended scenes (HD 12:58), a gag reel (HD 02:12), BD-Live functionality, an UltraViolet digital copy, up-front previews, and D-BOX® Motion Code™.

Filmed in Thailand with the Red One digital camera system, the 1080p VC-1 picture is robustly stylistic with a brownish filtered tint, to depict an aged look. Fleshtones are particularly impacted with a brownish tone that is unnatural. Other colors are decent, with highlighted saturated reds and deep blacks. Contrast is inconsistent, though, blacks manage to retain good presence. Resolution is at times good, with revealing facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture, particularly during close-ups, and at other times softly focused. Overall, this is a decent presentation but contrast appears dampened and the picture is undistinguished. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is effectively produced with realistic atmospherics and sound effects that frequent the enveloping, aggressive surround soundfield. Such effects are directionalized, to enhance the sense of dimension. The orchestral music score is nicely recorded with a wide and deep soundstage that extends to the surrounds with a heightened presence. Deep bass is punctuated in the .1 LFE channel to fortify the battle scenes. Dialogue is mostly ADR and wanting in spatial integration, though, some scenes are well presented. This is a really active, aggressive holosonic® soundfield experience. The D-BOX Motion Code effects are effectively engaging, to enhance the action with varying motion effects. (Gary Reber)
