The 1.78:1 1080p AVC picture is nicely photographed from a digital source. The imagery is appealingly natural throughout, with well-balanced hues that enhance the realism. Fleshtones are accurately hued as well. Resolution is superb, with fine nuances in detail revealed in facial features, Charlize Theron's powdery makeup, hair, clothing, and object texture. Contrast is well executed with deep, solid blacks and revealing shadow delineation. This is a pleasing picture throughout, with a natural visual character. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is conventional with no particularly distinguishing qualities. The music is nicely recorded, especially the prominent drum kit. Atmospherics, such as ambient sound effects, at times enhance a sense of dimension, but mostly the sonics are flat. Dialogue is always intelligible and, at times, is nicely integrated spatially. While not distinguished, this is a pleasing, but limited, sonic experience. (Gary Reber)
