    Moonrise Kingdom follows two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm begins to brew offshore—and the peaceful island community is turned upside-down and changed forever. (Gary Reber)

    The 1080p AVC picture is wonderfully warm and richly hued with a golden glow. Hues are strongly saturated, to emphasize contrast. Fleshtones are naturally rendered. Contrast is well balanced with nicely rendered blacks and shadow delineation. Resolution is nicely detailed, with excellent clarity and fine nuances exhibited in close-ups of facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture. The natural wilderness is captured beautifully, as if a painting. This is a uniquely visual viewing experience that is captivating in its appearance. (Gary Reber)

    The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is nicely executed, with a wonderful orchestral music score punctuated with light interludes. The recording quality is excellent, but presence is reserved and not forward-sounding. Dialogue is prominent, with a natural quality and acceptable spatial integration. Atmospherics and sound effects enhance the wilderness soundscapes and the occasional urban setting. Deep bass is limited, except for the storm scenes, is natural sounding, and provides a solid foundation. This is a most unique soundtrack with a quirky feel. (Gary Reber)
