The 1.85:1 1080p AVC picture is a low-budget digital production shot with Canon 7D DSLRs—no professional Red One digital system. The majority of the picture is shot in a home's basement with poor yellowish lighting. Contrast is reasonable, but noise is evident in the lower light scenes. The color palette varies with generally a natural spectrum, depending on the location and lighting. Resolution is soft throughout. The overall image quality is realistic and demonstrates the results that can be achieved by anyone with a pro consumer digital camera system. This is a generally mediocre presentation but effective in presenting the material. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is extremely quiet and totally dialogue driven, with a forward presence. A background music score accompanies particular scenes, to evoke emotion. Those scenes outside the basement are supported by environmental atmospherics that provide subtle surround envelopment, and limited .1 LFE supports the music. Otherwise, the focus is the frontal soundstage and the dialogue, which is wanting in spatial integration. (Gary Reber)
