This Is 40 is a comedic look inside the life of an American family. After years of marriage, Pete (Rudd) and Debbie (Mann) are approaching a milestone meltdown. As they try to balance romance, careers, parents, and children in their own hilarious ways, they must also figure out how to enjoy the rest of their lives. (Gary Reber)

Both the theatrical (02:13:44) and the unrated (02:17:03) versions are available. Special features include commentary with Writer/Director Judd Apatow; three documentaries: The Making Of This Is 40 (HD 50:05), This Is Albert Brooks (At Work) (HD 10:58), and Graham Parker & The Rumour: Long Emotional Ride (HD 17::30); music by Graham Parker & The Rumour (HD 26:34); music by Ryan Adams (HD 09:52); 14 deleted scenes (HD 35:36); nine extended and alternate scenes (HD 18:24); a gag reel (HD 08:25); Line-O-Rama in two parts (HD 08:17); BD-Live functionality; and an UltraViolet digital copy.

The 2.40:1 1080p AVC picture is brightly photographed with warm and vibrant colors that pop. Contrast is well balanced with deep backs and shadows with detail. Fleshtones are warmly hued and healthy looking. Resolution is nicely resolved with fine textured detail in facial features, hair, clothing, and objects. This is a very bright and colorful visual experience that is pleasingly visual throughout. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is frontal focused throughout, with minimal ambient support in the atmospherics and sound effects department. This is a dialogue soundtrack, and while always intelligible, the dialogue is forward sounding and up close. Surround presence is subtle and sporadic, or connected to the music with some .1 LFE support. Overall, this is a monaural-focused soundtrack, except for the pop music interludes, which briefly energize the surrounds. Still, fidelity is excellent. (Gary Reber)
